THE COOL NOTES are a band from Brixton, U.K. who were already an internationally celebrated REGGAE act before they switched to SOUL and FUNK in 1980's. They include PETER ROWLANDS on Drums and Percussions, PETER LEE GORDON on guitar, JOSEPH JOHN CHARLES on rhythm guitar, IAN DUNSTAN on bass, STEVE MCINTOSH on keyboards and backup vocals, and the lovely singers LORRAINE MCINTOSH and HEATHER AUSTIN. |

We here at The Groove played the "living daylights" out of "Funkin' For Jamaica (N.Y.)" by TOM BROWNE starting in 1980 with the release of his classic 'Love Approach' album. We never played "Brighter Tomorrow" from his 'Rockin' Radio' album in 1983. It features vocals by CAROL WOODS who had a minor success with the AMERICAN DISCO single "I'm In Wonderland" in 1977. |

The 10" single of "Brighter Tomorrow" recorded by DIPLOMATS OF SOUL featuring the British ACID JAZZ band INCOGNITO and the singer IMAANI almost sounds exactly like the TOM BROWNE original featured on the flip. The DIPLOMATS OF SOUL are British dj's MIKE ALLIN and RALPH TEE who released their version of "Brighter Tomorrow" in 2015! This is a classic example of British artists recreating the FUNK DISCO sound of the early 1980's today! |

The song "Don't Stop The Music" by IDRA KAYNE sounds like a stand out FUNK DISCO track from around 1980! Yet IDRA KAYNE is really a popular Greek singer and "Don't Stop The Music" was released in Athens in 2015! IDRA KAYNE was raised by her Ugandan father in Greek mother in Athens and she is quite popular in digital music circles in Europe. |

The "Funky Star Trak Vol 3" is one of a series of mix programs available online that provides mixed sets of music that are created entirely by artificial intelligence. Does this 17 minutes of this mix sound like FUNK DISCO from the early 1980's? It is just a bit of an hour long program offered. There are no real singers or musicians, just the sound prepared and presented by a computer program. |
