A special 2- hour plus tribute to Janis Lockwood with Monique Lanoix, Ron Moores, Bob Stark, John Carroll, Ian Tamblyn and Megan Jerome - features some of Janis's vintage interviews

Putting this show together was a labour of love and a project that feels incomplete by the end of it all because it is so difficult to capture the essence of Janis Lockwood in 2 hours of radio. Thanks to Monique Lanoix, Ron Moores, Bob Stark, John Carroll, Ian Tamblyn and Megan Jerome for their wonderful contributions to this show. Thanks to Bob LeDrew for allowing us to use the hour from 4-5 p.m. - this was an hour that Janis filled with music for more than a decade here at CKCU. Bob was gracious to allow us to fill it with talk about Janis and some of her favourite music today. I apologize to those that I could not fit into the show today. Janis Lockwood was an integral part of CKCU for most of the life of this great radio station. Sadly she died two weeks ago and was suddenly taken from our lives - leaving a large hole in our hearts, in our community radio station and in our music community. She quietly and tirelessly worked to support this station and the local music scene for four decades... at least. Listen to these two hours and get a small sense of what she meant to so many people and to so many community organizations. I would also encourage you to listen to other amazing programs that have aired tributes to her in the past several weeks... and then you may get a better sense of what she meant to so many. On this show I really wanted to focus on her impact on local musicians and how she worked so hard to spread the word about the great music that is produced by local and independent artists. She was an amazing interviewer and loved to share music she loved with others. Canadian Spaces paints a more complete picture of Janis on this show: https://cod.ckcufm.com/programs/129/48095.html And a few weeks earlier Ian Tamblyn and Chris White produced a musical tribute to her as welll: https://cod.ckcufm.com/programs/129/47815.html Also check out David Dalle's beautiful tribute to Janis here: https://cod.ckcufm.com/programs/105/48063.html I invite you to check out some of Janis's old programs while they are still available On Demand. There are so many gems here and there is so much great music to explore. https://cod.ckcufm.com/programs/106/index.html?filter=all In particular if you would like to hear the entire interview with Ian Tamblyn. Check out this link below. In the program they go into very deep and amazing discussions about Ian's songs and the power of music and art. https://cod.ckcufm.com/programs/106/41249.html Please note this program runs about 10 minutes longer than the on air version of the show. There is an extra farewell to Janis at the end and one Cloud of Rock tune that didn't make it onto the radio show because I ran out of time. Goodbye Janis. Thanks for all you gave to us and for all you gave to me. You were the first person to let me on air, in the middle of one overnighter many years ago and you constantly provided me with guidance about discovering amazing music. I cherish all the crossovers we had on Thursdays and loved our conversations about music, our lives and the crazy state of our world. Your spirit lives on here.. but you are missed.
