I am so enjoying hearing this Canadian Spaces program dedicated to Janis Lockwood. One of her many accomplishments was as Festival Coordinator of the Ottawa Folk Festival from 2001-2006, where she was absolutely indispensable to the successful running of the event, according to Gene Swimmer who was the executive director of the Ottawa Folk Festival in those years. Characteristically, Janis was very capable and worked tirelessly behind the scenes at the festival, managing to keep her sense of humour intact. Janis was a kind and generous soul with an eclectic taste in music and will be greatly missed by many in the Ottawa music community and beyond. She was a close and long-standing friend of Chopper McKinnon so it is particularly appropriate for her to be honoured on the show he started at CKCU more than 40 years ago.
