AN INTERVIEW with Ottawa blues-master Angelique Francis! We talked her new album, makin’ music in isolation, and playing Bluesfest & other fests all over the country!

First taking the stage at age 7 and then, making her national TV debut on the Oprah Network at age 13 for writing and composing a theme song for “The Gayle King Show,” Angelique Francis has always been around music. By age 14, Francis had already become a proficient acoustic guitar, upright bass, electric guitar, and electric bass player, and was performing at a multitude of festivals. In 2018, she released her first album of original music, Kissed By The Blues.

Her new album, Long River has hit the Blues Charts around the world and in the Top 5 on the Roots Music Report’s Canadian Chart for the 8th consecutive week.

JΘSΞPHINΞ LEΦNE - Gold in the Fire Canadian
Named after front woman Valerie-Josephine and the Latin word for lion, Ottawa-based band JΘSΞPHINΞ LEΦNE pulls their influences from bands like Nirvana, Beth Hart, and The Black Keys. With some blues, soul and funk thrown in the mix, they describe their sound as Scrunge Rock. Gritty vocals, swampy funk grooves and fuzzy riffs permeate their songs.

After a successful Ontario tour in fall 2019 that was topped off with the “Gold In The Fire” album release party, the band was gaining incredible momentum. JΘSΞPHINΞ LEΦNE was scheduled to play at the Ottawa Bluesfest in the summer of 2020 and anticipated a busy year playing festivals and venues across Canada. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic caused the cancellation of all major shows and forced the band to delay their plans to tour the country. However, with COVID-19 restrictions finally appearing to ease up, the members of JΘSΞPHINΞ LEΦNE are very excited and optimistic about getting back on stage this summer.

Lights Out
Etoile Noire - Etoile Noire Canadian
Shadow of the City
Etoile Noire - Etoile Noire Canadian
This intimate and emotional bilingual folk duo, based out of Ottawa, is inspired by earth-roots compositions which could be compared to acts such as: Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot, Daniel Lanoie, along with a taste of northern Acadian spice.

Their music embodies coarse-rich vocals, infused with quirky harmonies, layered with finger picking and slide. The art is in itself truly their own.

Formed in 2016 by the talents of singer/songwriters, vocalists-guitarists Fabien Melanson and Justin Trudeau, this Canadian duo has since carried tours in the east-coast and Ontario, promoting their debut album featuring "Gone", "Lights Out", and "Angelique".

They are currently in production for their second record.
