Orchidae - s/t Canadian

Ball and Chain & The Wreckers - Surrender Canadian
Ball and Chain & The Wreckers are an Ottawa based band with Michael Ball and Jody Benjamin as the shackles holding this group together. Michael and Jody have been making frequent trips to Louisiana since 1997 and the music from Southwest Louisiana and its cultural context continues to fascinate them.

They play a mixture of original and cover tunes leaning towards the earlier country that still sounded like country. Some of their favorites are Hank Williams, George Jones, Roger Miller and Webb Pierce.

The Lucky Setback - Buy Low, Build Cheap Canadian
Coming off the 2019 release of their debut album “Buy Low, Build Cheap”, Ottawa’s The Lucky Setback have been busy playing in front of audiences with their energetic hard rock. Over the past 2 1/2 years the band’s debut single “Bang Bang Electric” has been featured on many radio stations across the country.

The band is now splitting their time bringing their music to growing crowds at venues in other Canadian cities (currently on hiatus due to COVID) and writing/recording their second full-length album. With a plethora of new songs in the works that show an increasing sophistication and dedication to crafting riff-based rock and anthemic choruses inspired by bands of the early 1990’s, the band expects to release a series of singles starting with Golden Lie in fall 2021.

Mimi O'Bonsawin - s/t Canadian New
Mimi O’Bonsawin is a contemporary roots singer-songwriter from Northeastern Ontario. Through her rhythm and story-driven songs, Mimi embraces the beauty of the land, all the while yielding to her Franco-Ontarian and Abenaki roots. In her music you will find sounds from the forest, uplifting melodies and introspective lyrics weaved with pop sensitivities and acoustic instruments. The layers of percussion and surprising harmonies make you feel the music rather than just hear it.

"Being Abenaki and Franco-Ontarian means I have a big family and a vibrant community;" shares Mimi. "I was raised by incredible women and continue to learn from them. They have had a hand in making me who I am and I am always inspired by them. Their strength drives me. I wrote this song as a way to honour the women in my life. Naturally, as a songwriter, music is the way I connect with the world and express myself."

Graven - Simple Complex Canadian New
Graven is a Nepean-born, once-bedroom-rapper, cross-Canadian rail-riding troubadour, lyrical time-traveler, twang-thunder-picker, dad, wordsmith, melodic mystic, and nature appreciator. Through his 11 albums, that touch on many different life timelines, there is a bright guiding light that shines inwards, on the keel of an even but passionate voice, and illuminates feelings of honesty, hurt and hope. Having shared stages with Kathryn Calder (New Pornographers), Slow Leaves, Megan Nash (2019 JUNO nominee), Tanya Davis, The Wooden Sky, Steve Poltz and Al Tuck and more, Graven (Matty McKechnie) is an ambitious and prolific wordsmith. On his 2015 release ‘Channelsurfing The Seas Of The Cinematic Mind’, he had production and engineering from Charles Austin (The Super Friendz, Aqua Alta) and drumming from Dave Marsh (The Joel Plaskett Emergency). The 2017 LP ‘Jaybird’ had a few singles that found repeated college and terrestrial radioplay in pockets across Canada. His most recent single ‘Hymnal’ was produced by Jim Bryson (multi-album creator and sideman for The Tragically Hip, Kathleen Edwards, The Weakerthans). Hymnal has been played several times on CBC Radio One, CKDJ, CHUO and was placed on several ‘Best of 2018’ lists on CKCU. Graven has played POP Montreal, Shazamfest, Fusefest, RBC Ottawa Bluesfest, TD Ottawa Jazzfest, Barnstorm, Beyond The Pale’s Launchpad, Marvest (Cityfolk) and a handful more. He is releasing a new record in the fall of 2019 that is being engineered and produced by Jim Bryson.
