Abigail:
Call it prairie noir, or Canadiana desert rock: Abigail Lapell sings haunting, gorgeous modern folk songs, mapping epic natural landscapes and deeply intimate, personal territory. The Toronto vocalist, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist has released three acclaimed solo albums -- her sophomore LP, Hide Nor Hair, won a Canadian Folk Music Award for Contemporary Album of the Year in 2017. Since then, Lapell has been on the road, touring across Canada, the U.S. and Europe, and playing at festivals like Pop Montreal, Mariposa, In The Dead Of Winter, Tiny Lights and Folk On The Rocks. Getaway, Lapell’s ambitious third release, is out February 1st 2019 on Coax Records/Outside.

Raine:
Raine’s new album, Night Sky (March 2018), tips between the earthly and the otherworldly; it is anchored in relatable lived experience, while reaching into the space just beyond, thinning the veil between here and there, affording safe passage to the rough and beautiful places.

Raine’s ethereal voice and lyrics are at the forefront of these powerful and relatable tunes, written both in English and in French. Alongside cello + double bass, and with Raine on violin or guitar, these songs have a moving string quartet feel with a cosmic reach.

Shelter Movers is a federally registered charitable organization providing moving and storage services free of cost to women and children fleeing abuse. They collaborate with community partners to support families transitioning to a life free of violence.

Driven by more than 400 volunteers in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, and Halifax with new chapters forming in Québec City, Waterloo, Hamilton and York Region, Shelter Movers has served more than 800 families; approximately 8 moves per week since 2016.

Shelter Movers internal cost to move one family is just $200. Ideally, this fundraising initiative will introduce Shelter Movers to new people as they branch out to additional centres across the country. The more people hear about what they are doing, the bigger reach they will have.

JAZZ WEATHER!

https://soundcloud.com/galacticfunk/goose-grease
https://soundcloud.com/galacticfunk/already

Funk and jazz jam band from New Orleans, Galactic, is celebrated for its distinctly contemporary approach towards their own progressive sound. Blending modern rhythms and electronic instrumentation within the house-shaking framework of the Crescent City’s funk pop‘n’ roll. Though their hearts are always in New Orleans, the band spends the majority of life on the road, leaving limited time in which to record. However, after touring for more than three years, Galactic has recently released their latest CD, Already Ready Already. With this album, they took a new direction from their usual instrumental performances and invited a diverse array of predominantly young female singers, each of whom brings their own musical tastes and cultural flavour to this album, and that's why they've invited Erica Falls to perform with them this summer. Working with up and coming artists, who are beloved in their own community, enabled them to create a sound capturing their hometown.
