Rainville and an all-star band will launch the CD at Irene’s Pub, 885 Bank Street. Tickets $15 at the door After hearing some of Paul’s tunes Canadian music legend Ian Tamblyn offered to be “a friendly ear” - to record and produce Paul’s songs. It was a dream project. Ian’s ear was indeed friendly and encouraging and he brought in an all-star list of players. Actors interpret the words of others and Paul had been itching to claim authorship of a project. He started out in music doing solo shows and had a notion to call this project Mononymous - as in ‘one voice’ - but like the theatre this work has proved to be much more collaborative - with many voices contributing to what Paul gets to claim as his own. Biggest treat for him is this band that will take the stand with him. There’s even a surprise guest. May 8th - 8pm - at Irene's Featuring: Ottawa’s own sublime singer Rebecca Campbell and her unique vocal stylings. Soaring on horns - and picking a bit of mandolin - Petr Cancura, a force and fixture on the Ottawa jazz scene and Artistic Director of the Ottawa Jazz Festival. Ken Kanwisher, recorded Paul’s CD at his Teletune Studio; he plays cello, bass, and makes a mean espresso. A fine drummer named Alden Roberge joins the group on percussion. |

We speak with Jadea Kelly at 8:10 am Canadian singer-songwriter Jadea Kelly has created the soundtrack for the documentary Met While Incarcerated www.darthjadea.com The album is due to be released on May 17th The documentary had its US premiere at LA Femme International Film Festival on Oct 14, 2018 in Los Angeles CA, the Canadian premiere at the Hamilton Film Festival on November 9, 2018, and aired on the Documentary channel this past Sunday, March 31, 2019. The documentary is directed by Catherine Legge, one of Canada’s most sought-after showrunner/producers in documentary and factual television. The new doc also won a Hollywood International Independent Documentary Award for best Music/Score DOCUMENTARY QUOTE from Jadea: "Composing music for the MWI documentary was an incredibly cathartic and challenging experience. By the end, I held a collection of beautiful new songs and a deep sense of compassion and empathy, both for the criminals within the story and their partners in the outside world. MWI illuminates an uncomfortable social topic but also the lives of real people. Looking past the incarceration charges, I do see genuine love and healing between the featured couples. Very eye opening." Wednesday, May 8 - Napanee, ON - Ellena’s (w/ Kennedy Road) Thursday, May 9 - Toronto, ON - Burdock (w/ Kennedy Road) - Early Show: 6pm & Late Show: 9pm Saturday, May 11 - Wakefield, QC - Blacksheep Inn (w/ The Artichoke Hearts) Met While Incarcerated” is defined as a person who met their partner / spouse after an incarceration or criminal offence. Met While Incarcerated the Film’ follows the lives of 3 prison inmates - one of which is on death row - and their partners in the outside world. It challenges societal stereotypes and our understanding of crime, punishment, good and evil, forgiveness, love and redemption.
