Music.Art.Ppl, Harea Band, and Babylon Nightclub team up once again to throw a spring dance party!

M.A.P. and Harea Band are collaborating for their second time to bring together the region’s best bands, DJs, and artists for a spring themed party at Babylon Nightclub.

Riding on the coattails of the very successful “Holiday Boogie” back in December 2018, Harea Band and Music.Art.Ppl have announced the second installment of their event series entitled “Spring up, Get down.”

Spring up, Get down aims to celebrate springtime and warmth by bringing together different parts of the Ottawa arts scene to create an all-inclusive nightlife experience.

Harea Band, The Peptides, and Good Advice will be supplying live funk, pop, and soul music to keep the dancefloor hot and the good vibes high.

Music.Art.Ppl will transform the room in to a summer oasis, while also supplying a variety of DJs who will be spinning throughout the night.

Live painters will set up shop beside the dancefloor and will be using the night as inspiration to create a brand new art piece right in front of your eyes.

Chef LeRoy of Detroit Soul Food will be serving up hot food as well as some sweet ice cream treats courtesy of Holmespun Ice Cream.

Whatever blues the winter months brought your way, Spring up, Get Down is sure to bring some sunshine in to your life!

"Organic and raw, taking it back to the streets where good music began by defining their own cabaret, jug band and tin pan alley sound. This artistic resurrection is a merry rebellion, born on the streets of Montreal, in the form of sultry piano and banjo (Aly), upright bass (Tyler), rocking and reeling violin riffs (Olive), layered on top of nostalgic washboard beats (Valentina). Fans young and old agree, Old Time Honey’s soulful singing and danceable rhythms make for an unforgettable live music experience."

"All Sick Again" EP will be released May 20, 2018

The EP “All Sick Again” is a collection of songs that go back as early as 2016 and up to 2018. It is filled with lyrics and song structures that blend drama and comedy. They follow themes of love, emotional manipulation, aging and overindulgence. Often based on, and then exaggerated from situations in the artists own life. This will be his first release since 2015's indie rocker, "Moving So Slow".
This album was partly produced by Aly Marguerite who arranged the vocals on I’m Your Man, Baby Don’t Worry and contributed to arrangements on All Sick Again.

Phone Interview with Mike Kerr at 8:10 am
Show at Bar Robo on Saturday, May 18th
Also with Caribou Run from Nova Scotia south shore, Mahone Bay.

Mike T. Kerr is a wild flatpicker and ambitious country songwriter of Canadian heritage and American citizenship. During his time at Berklee College of Music in Boston and in over 10 years of performing, he's lived his life through many historical and contemporary musical styles. Always curious to dig up not only a song's history, but the shape of the world at the time, Mike plays passionately and openly while interpreting the great guitar players of the past. A Danny Gatton lick or Django Reinhardt tune is never far from his fingertips.

"Mike is an incredibly engaging performer - present with the audience and entertaining as hell! He is truly a master guitar player - whether solo or in a band context, his playing is astonishing." - Matthew Smith, Managing Director, Club Passim (Cambridge, MA)

Born in Michigan and raised in Ontario, Quebec and Virginia, it's hard to pinpoint exactly where Mike is from. He hangs his hat at any given time in Halifax, Nashville, Toronto, or in whichever touring vehicle he's calling home.

"The first time I heard Mike Kerr play, it took me back to when I was first learning guitar and everything was new again. He floored me with his effortless, yet, razor-sharp playing. It shook up everything I thought I knew and has made me strive to be better ever since. I've started practicing my fingerpicking again because of Mike. Humble, charming and impossible to tire of, his playing and songwriting draw from multiple eras that will surely leave you impressed. You can tell in the first 30 seconds that he has an unbridled passion for guitar playing. A true gentleman." - William Prince

"Classic and simple and full of melancholy delivered with a grin. Danny Gatton meets Hank Snow. What more do you need?"
- Campbell Woods
