Happy Friday “Drivers” fam!
Got a jam packed show of goodies for you all in this week’s episode!
Some promos and new and new to the “Friday Drive” jams that have been accumulating to share with you all.
Starting off the show on the usual slightly more mellow tip, in the “unwinding from the week” portion, with a nice mix of dubby reggae, jazzy, global grooves in our first hour.
Taking it up and probably into overtime continuing the theme, in the “winding up for the weekend” second hour, for anyone wanting to shake a leg.
Happy listening, thank you all for taking the time and hope you enjoy this week’s offering.

With no talking on the dance floor, the focus is on self-expression, enjoyment, and being present in the moment. Whether you’re there to unwind or simply have fun, ecstatic dance is for everyone—no experience needed! ~~~ About Queenyy Hailing from Ottawa, Canada, Stephanie Marcantonio, professionally known as Queenyy, is a versatile creative force. Specializing in blending underground house, techno, tribal rhythms, and global beats, Queenyy curates a captivating and immersive musical journey for her audience. Her sets are renowned for their infectious energy, capable of transporting listeners across the globe with her diverse music selections. Drawing inspiration from her worldly travels and dance experiences, Queenyy's commitment to her craft and love for music shines through in all she does. Her deep-rooted passion for dance traces back to her childhood, undergoing a transformative evolution nearly a decade ago when she turned to yoga to manage chronic pain. This choice not only helped her overcome physical challenges but also reignited her passion for dance, leading her to explore street dance styles worldwide. In 2023, Queenyy made a conscious decision to deepen her movement artistry. Beginning her journey in India, she delved into the study of yoga, earning a 200-hour teacher training certificate. Her adventures then took her to South Africa, where she immersed herself in African street dance. By teaching yoga to dancers at Soweto’s Finest Dance Studio in Johannesburg, Queenyy seamlessly merged her expertise in both disciplines. Focusing on Ecstatic Dance, Queenyy now merges all her talents into one cohesive offering. Creating a welcoming space for individuals to discover their unique rhythm amidst her eclectic music choices, she continues to captivate audiences with her artistic fusion. We start and end in silence. Upon entering the space, please enter quietly and sync with the energy. After the session, stay in silence until further instructions or a closing circle. DANCING AND CONSENT: When dancing with others, always be aware of consent through body language and eye contact. A person’s openness to dance may vary during the session or from week to week. At any time, you or your partner may choose to end the dance by stepping away or bowing with hands in prayer. TALKING: Please refrain from talking on the dance floor, as it helps everyone dive deeper into the experience. If you need to converse, please do so in the foyer. If you notice someone talking, feel free to gently remind them with a gesture. KIDS: Parents, kindly keep your children close (within arm's reach). If the space is quiet, especially during the opening or closing moments, please guide your children into silence. If that’s difficult, please take them outside or to the foyer to avoid distracting others. PHYSICAL BOUNDARIES: Respect each other's personal space and be mindful of your own boundaries. Feel free to communicate your needs. If you’d like to engage in physical touch, like hugs, please ask first. ENERGETIC BOUNDARIES: Ecstatic Dance can heighten energy and awareness. Be conscious of this and avoid staring or observing other dancers too intensely. If your focus is elsewhere, bring your energy back to yourself by asking, "Where is my awareness now?" CELL PHONE USE: Please avoid using your phone on the dance floor. If necessary, use your device in the foyer. SWEATING: If you plan to sweat heavily, bring a towel and clean the area around you as needed. If the floor becomes wet from sweat, stop and clean up before continuing. SCENT-FREE SPACE: Please avoid wearing perfumes or strong scents. SCREAMING: While sounds and expressive releases are welcome, be considerate of others. Continuous loud noises or screaming may disrupt others’ focus. FOOTWEAR: Please dance barefoot or wear indoor shoes in the dance space. IN CLOSING: Please arrive early or on time to journey together.\ Bring a water bottle. Breathe, take care of yourself, and be mindful of others and the environment. Wear comfortable clothing for movement. Be ready to sweat. MONDAY, MARCH 17 - SATURDAY, MARCH 22 Five For Flava! @The Flava Factory 1076B Wellington Street W. SUNDAY, MARCH 23, 2025 AT 9 PM SOUNDPROOF: Live Neo-Soul Instrumentals @27 Club 27 York St. Lauryn Hill tribute night + open jam session! SATURDAY, MARCH 29, 2025 AT 8 PM Mas Aya + Aymara Alvarado Sánchez + DJ Gloryhull @SAW Centre 67 Nicholas St. Event: https://www.facebook.com/share/1HhhArrCz5/ Tickets: Ticketswww.tixtree.com/e/mas-aya-aymara-alvarado-snchez-dj-gloryhull-ed9a7b3694d0 Acclaimed Nicaraguan-Canadian composer, producer, and musician Brandon Miguel Valdivia, also known as Mas Aya, returns to Ottawa for a night of lush atmospheric production and live instrumentation. Following the release of his 2024 LP, Coming and Going, it's evident that Mas Aya's percussion-driven sound has grown even more playful and expansive thanks in part to his closest collaborators: his partner, Lido Pimienta, and his young daughter, who both appear as vocalists on the album. This intimate intermingling of familial vocals, ambient echoes, and Valdivia's signature combination of live drums and flutes creates what critics have called a "quiet, almost restful quality," but Mas Aya's latest work still teems with subtle contradictions and restless intrigue, all the while carving pathways toward the reconciliation of these opposing sonic and thematic forces. Mas Aya is joined by avant-garde improvisational artist Aymara Alvarado Sánchez and eclectic vinyl selector DJ Glory Hull at Club SAW on March 29. Dystoh, The Brothership, + Mo The Pro DYSTOH Dystoh is a dynamic new duo from Ray Tabana and Phil Motion, founding members of the three-time Juno-nominated Souljazz Orchestra. Having debuted live at the Dakar Music Expo in Senegal (2023) and since toured Colombia, Canada, and Europe, the duo blends hard-hitting congas, roaring baritone sax, and tight two-part harmonies, while their sound draws from the more commanding elements of Afrobeat(s), Latin and Reggae influences. Their self-produced debut album, ‘Heat of the Times’ (May 2024), is a journey through the realities, anxieties and hopes in the chaos of our modern world. Standout tracks like ‘All My Life’ and ‘Days Go By’ highlight the best of their hypnotic grooves and polyrhythmic arrangements as they bring forth a new high-energy signature sound that speaks to the duo’s rich history as seasoned performers and to their unwavering dedication to live music. THE BROTHERSHIP The Brothership is a gritty Afro futuristic funk collective harmoniously spawned from Ottawa based rock and soul band The Lionyls. Drawing inspiration from iconic funk acts such as Parliament/Funkadelic, The Meters, War, The Ohio Players, and contemporaries like Ghostnote and Dumpstaphunk, they’re firmly planted in the growing global funk renaissance. Blending deep instrumental grooves with simply irresistible vocal harmonies and tongue-in-cheek humour, The Brothership’s high energy party vibe offers an immersive musical experience for all to enjoy! MO THE PRO Mo, The Pro is a DJ with an ear for rhythm and a heart for culture. He is a Canada-based Nigerian passionate about Afrobeats, Amapiano, Rap, and Pop.
