Dave Brubeck – The Rhythmic avant-garde
Dave Brubeck could have been a straight ahead pianist. Instead, he introduced enough disturbing factors in Be Bop to both attract praise or rejection. His main feature was to introduce asymmetric time signature taken from world music but others consisted in overlaying asymmetric rhythms on phases that fitted straight ahead 4/4 time signatures. This all resulted in spectacular composition, one of it, Take Five is a hit to this day.
