Music for Berlin – Frank Paul Schubert & Udo Schindler
Berlin is the only place in the world where an avant-garde musician can make a living without having to play Black Orpheus. Of course, he can’t do that within Berlin alone, but this is the place where he will find numerous outstanding musicians to go on tours all over Europe. Tonight, I will illustrate an old rivalry between two outstanding musical cities, Berlin and Munich. Munich has been in the avant-garde for a long time but on the classical side while Berlin is all over. Tonight I will present a soprano saxophone duet recorded in Munich with Frank Paul Schubert vs Udo Schindler on their spectacular PARNASSIA PALUSTRIS CD. All in the high range with sometimes diametrically opposed musical styles, this duo is roaring in togetherness.
