Barrence Whitfield & The Savages have combined savage Soul, R&B, Rockabilly & Rock & Roll with more than a whiff of Garage Rock fumes for over thirty years. An amazing soul screamer, Barrence has a voice that could peel the tiles from the Space Shuttle. He is a human dynamo and the band's live performances have to be seen (and heard) to be believed. The Savages latest album, "Soul Flowers Of Titan", is due out this Friday. To celebrate, we'll listen to their music from their self-titled, debut album, that came out in 1984, to their latest disc, "Soul Flowers Of Titan", which is due out this Friday. Hold on to your hat! It's gonna be a wild, wild ride!

One of my favourite bands. I saw them at the Ottawa Jazz Festival about 25 years ago. The guy is amazing.

I don't know. Jacques Emond (RIP) used to find acts for the jazz festival. He asked the co-host of House Rockin', Bill Scott, who to bring and Bill blurted out Barrence Whitfield & The Savages. There were a lot of dumbfounded jazz fans there that night. Ha! Ha!

Peter Greenberb and Phil Lenker are back. The new stuff is a lot more garage based. Lot's of B-3 organ and a very dirty sounding guitar.

I knew Jacques Emond very well Myself in fact I've meet him about 4 or 5 times in person when I worked at CKCU FM from 1991 to 1996 manly as a receptionist on the phones on a one a day week basics for 5 years it was a great time for Me!:)
