Capital Tease Burlesque presents Night Circus, @Fatboys Southern Smokehouse 34 Murray St. A glitter of wayward girls lugged bags of fringe and feathers through the front doors of a noisy smokehouse in Ottawa's Byward Market. They tightened their garters and painted their lips blood red and they danced and they stripped for the bar's howling crowd late into the night. Their screams were carried by the wind in the dark streets conjuring new patrons. The show begins on Friday, November 1st at 9:30pm at Fatboys Southern Smokehouse (34 Murray St.). Bloom: Finding Community Care. @Kind Space 222 Somerset St W. Bloom is a support and drop in young adult space for Queer and Trans folks ages 18-30, that focuses on holding space that is intentional. Bloom is dedicated on creating a safe environment to carry conversations around trauma, violence, harm and resilience. Being a queer young adult isn’t easy, either it be finding housing, to employment, to intersectional complexities like race and class, this space is based around your agency and our collective responsibility in the activation and maintenance of creating a safer space through anti-oppression practices. Climate Rally at the Parliament of Canada, @Parliament Hill 111 Wellington St. Our aim is to bring together as many Canadians as possible to show we are united in demanding a strong response to the crisis, all in the most Canadian way possible: peaceful protesting! In addition to vendor tables, there will also be tables promoting the work done by local non profits & grassroots organizations. It is a great opportunity to learn more about some of the work done to support womxn and queer folks in Ottawa.
