Laid it Down Kofi Khae feat. Godina & Tsan - s/t |
The son of African immigrants, Kofi grew up in the suburbs of the nation’s capital with unwavering drive and an appreciation for clever wordplay. He quickly learned that the beauty and evocative power of hip hop is often obscured by the fact that its leading figures use the art form to tear down rather than build up. Determined to introduce something positive, he released two independent records and gained local notoriety before taking an indefinite hiatus. After completing three degrees and starting a career and family, he has returned with newfound perspective and a renewed commitment to purpose and authenticity.

Over the Mountain Raine Hamilton - Brave Land |
Brave Land (Live) Raine Hamilton - Brave Land |
Brave Land is a concept album about mountains, and the courage, wisdom, and other worldly connection they represent. Here, as in Raine’s 2018 Canadian Folk Music Award winning album Night Sky, her songs are set to intricate and seasoned arrangements for guitar, violin, cello, and double bass.
Once again she has worked with string trio collaborators Quintin Bart on double bass, Natanielle Felicitas on cello, and Lloyd Peterson as producer/engineer. The three musicians have been working on co-composing arrangements and recording this album since fall 2019, with a 3-month-curve-ball-pandemic-hiatus in the middle there somewhere. https://www.rainehamilton.com/brave-land 2021 Folk Music Ontario Showcase https://youtu.be/Q8BC3om4fnE?t=2161 |

Green Grey Michelle Willis - s/t |
It'll Rain Today Michelle Willis - s/t |
Michelle Willis is a Canadian singer, songwriter and keyboard player based in Brooklyn NY. She is a member of David Crosby & Sky Trails, David Crosby & Lighthouse, and the Becca Stevens Band. As a kid growing up, singing and playing was a way of communication; a pathway to self expression. “I grew up in the 90s, when the hits on the radio were women like Shawn Colvin, Lauryn Hill, Amanda Marshall, Jann Arden, Whitney Houston, Alanis Morissette, Janet Jackson and Sarah McLachlan. These women dominated my emo-brain. They said how they felt; their songs felt deep, harmonically and lyrically. Their music was a place where all my teenage emotion could live and be perfectly expressed. Around the same time, I was singing Brahms, Mozart and Bach in the choir I sang in with my family, so all that music was circling around in my brain.”
