I had an interview with Sachin Herath, VP of Development for CASCO! We yik yakked raising money for CHEO, and getting people interested without an in-person gala!
I spoke with Almyr Jules and Michael Bercier! These guys played a show on a PIRATE SHIP in the middle of Mooneys Bay! We talked sea shanties, recording in isolation, and what’s next on the horizon!

I spoke with Sachin Herath, Vice President of Development for CASCO. Typically, the charity organization holds big events and raises money for CHEO... much harder to do this year! We talked about how fundraising typically works, how they've pivoted to the new normal, and what kinds of thigns we can expect in the future! About CASCO: CASCO was founded in September 1998 as an initiative through the shared vision between two friends, Alexandre St-Jean and Tuan Nguyen. They both wanted to show support, raise money and honour their dearly departed friend Eric Danis, who passed away from Leukemia. In twenty years, it has touched and inspired thousands of students to give back, and has raised over $700,000 just last year! For the past 21 years, CASCO has produced an annual gala show, putting the spotlight on the talents of the University of Ottawa students. The much-anticipated soirée is one comprised of song, dance and fashion, and succeeds in unifying students, business professionals and community members with the common goal of providing support for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). That is both the story that runs through the debut record by summersets, and also how the new duo’s members, Kalle Mattson and Andrew Sowka, met growing up in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The 6-song EP Small Town Saturday started out as an experiment in writing character-based songs for Mattson and acts as the first chapter in a larger full-length album. “I had the idea of writing a song that tracked a relationship from the very beginning of two people meeting, to everything in between, until one of them passes away.
