Stittsville Front Porch Concert Series
Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 7 PM – 8 PM
https://www.facebook.com/events/277329833486820/?active_tab=about

The Stittsville Front Porch Concert Series is an opportunity to enjoy free live music around Stittsville. Find some music while you enjoy an evening walk or bike ride.

Neighbours are encouraged to perform live music from their front porch, garage, driveway or whatever to fill the streets with life and song. Performers can sign up here https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8Q7J6MF

Music can heal, however, sometimes we need a little extra help. This event will be accepting donations for Crossroads Children's Mental Health Centre. Donations can be made at performance locations and we are also accepting a pay-what-you-can corporate sponsorship for the event. 100% of proceeds will be donated on behalf of the residents of Stittsville.

For more information, please email blakely.sara@gmail.com

Please note this is a community driven event and not an official event by the City of Ottawa. All participants are expected to follow COVID-19 and city protocol and event organizers do not assume responsibility for participants.

NEW LOCAL MUSIC!

From their bio:
“Remember to create, express yourself and be vulnerable”

Hi friend(s)! Thanks so much for stopping by! We are a brother sister duo originally from Caracas, Venezuela, but currently residing in Ottawa/Toronto areas. We have been singing and writing songs for years but made an official duet in 2016. Combining folk, pop, alternative, and funk. We released our first EP on Soundcloud in 2016, followed by our second release “Rest your Weary Eyes” on Bandcamp in 2017.

In the spring of 2018 we released a YouTube video of our original song "Sincerity" and from there got to play Marvest Festival and even promoted ourselves in CBC radio.

2019 was a year of mostly writing but we managed to play Canadian Music Week, and released our first studio single "Till a New Day Comes". On February 22nd 2020 we released our second single Oreo Cakes and Macaroons and had a release party to boot! Our 3rd single "Morse Code" is out on all platforms on June 26th.

Amiri
JAIoftheRise - s/t Canadian New
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeVzTqhcU5w

NEW LOCAL MUSIC!

From his Bio:
JAIoftheRise, an enigma embodying the destined struggle to the top, breaks down all boundaries, expressing his emotions within music that tell his story. It’s undeniable to say that the neighbouring city of Toronto hasn’t influenced the Canadian born artist, you can catch glimpses of Toronto natives such as anders, Roy Woods, PARTYNEXTDOOR and The Weeknd within his music as he elegantly crafts a unique sound from his personal experiences and inner dilemmas. Along with embracing his home town of Ottawa and revitalizing a new sound for city, he’s worked with incredible city talents like Svlm, The LJ, Carde Blanche and others. JAI also infuses flavours from his mother’s native country, It’s no wonder why he is called the “City’s Savour”. JAIoftheRise is a rebellious outcast in his own lane and is unfazed by society’s views or perceptions of him.

About the Track:
His newest release Amiri was written in memory of late legend Pop Smoke on his way back from Waterbury, Connecticut after opening for him and the Van Gogh Nighclub. Amiri released with a music video that premiered on Youtube and was edited by credible editors Unreel Studios who have worked with KILLY, Houdini, 6ixbuzz and plenty more Toronto talent.

NEW LOCAL MUSIC!

From their bio:
Twin Flames band creates a sonic landscape that spans Canada and the Arctic. Honouring their ancestors, they sing songs in English, Inuttitut and French. Consecutive year winners 2016 and 2017 of The Canadian Folk Music Award; Aboriginal Songwriters of the year. This multi-award-winning husband and wife duo is made up of Chelsey June and Jaaji both of Indigenous Backgrounds. Jaaji is Inuk and Mohawk from Nunavik and Chelsey June métis (Algonquin Cree) from Ottawa. Twin Flames push the boundaries of “Contemporary Folk”, with songs that incorporate both Western and traditional instruments. Despite polar opposite backgrounds Twin Flames found a common musical language.

About the Track:
Mental health is a battle that many people face in silence. Twin Flames first single from their upcoming album OMEN speaks to end the stigma associated with mental health and the battle that they both have faced.

"In the Arctic of Canada, Inuit People face the highest amount of suicides in the world! We have lost many friends and family members to suicide. Battlefields is a song to remind ourselves and our people we have to fight our own minds in order to survive, we are fighters and together we are less alone we need to win this battle.“
