From home, and still with love!

Interviews with the Fringe festival and local musician Rory Taillon! Plus, a lot of drive in concerts, new local tracks, and Max Webster!
Drive and Desire
Max Webster - Universal Juveniles Canadian
https://youtu.be/oEFcaEIsIDs

I’m playing Max tracks every week in tribute to Trish! After hostin’ (with the mostin’) The Brew for the past 6 years, she has stepped down from the role. She’s my BRFF (Best Radio Friend Forever) and I miss her greatly. Luckily, Webster is there to help us through all those darned emotions.

Graham Lindsey - s/t Canadian New
NEW LOCAL MUSIC! Latest single from graham’s upcoming new album!

Graham Lindsey is a multi-instrumentalist and composer, writing inventive and varied tunes. His compositions don’t follow the traditional Irish, Scottish or other Celtic styles, and the subtle differences bring a unique feel and rhythm to each tune. Graham was nominated for his 2019 album “TradHead” by the Canadian Folk Music Awards in the Instrumental Solo Artist category (2020).

His main project is the band “From Away”, and he regularly appears as a side-player with numerous artists including Anna Ludlow, Sarah Burnell, Lindsey & McGregor and more.

FRINGE GOES ONLINE!
July 25-July4
http://ottawafringe.com/fringeathome/

Ottawa Fringe is an open-access festival where 100% of ticket sales belong to the artists. A free market for the performing arts. Programming is selected by a lottery, not curators. Lottery aside, anyone is welcome to submit a Bring Your Own Venue show (BYOV) and have equal billing in the Fringe Festival program. The Fringe has returned more than $1.62 million to artists since 1997.

Due to isolation, they’ve gone online!

“Despite not being able to gather in person this year, the thought of a June without Fringe was too much to bear! So we’ve partnered with local artists and arts & community organizations – Capital Pride, Ottawa Storytellers, Ottawa School of Theatre, TACTICS – to present a series of free digital events streamed directly to your device.

Daily shows! Check out the schedule below!

Next in Line
Slack Bridges - s/t Canadian New
NEW LOCAL MUSIC! Drops July 3!

Drawing on the classic soul ballads of Al Green, William Bell and Bill Withers (R.I.P.), this slow burner intends to take you on a trip down memory lane. And the theme is about a struggle as timeless as the music: ‘Next in Line’ was written in solidarity with those who work twice as hard to get half as far.

Miguel De Armas Quartet - What’s to Come Canadian
https://youtu.be/hb1tqJe57UQ

Miguel De Armas is a versatile jazz pianist and composer. He weaves strands of Cuban and American jazz influences in a compellingly eclectic way. Born in Havana, Cuba, Miguel studied at the Conservatory Amadeo Roldan and graduated from the Instituto Superior de Arte with a Bachelor in Cuban Percussion.

Now Miguel has brought his musical talents to the city Ottawa, Canada which he considers his adopted home. His hope is to introduce Canadians to the works of an original Cuban talent whose performances are nothing short of a master class in original Cuban jazz rhythms.

Rory Taillon - Drifting Canadian New
NEW LOCAL MUSIC!

Rory Taillon released ‘Drifting’ in May… during the height of isolation! So he rolled by my palace to yik yak the album, writing, recording, and choosing to release without being able to tour!

He also told me all about receiving the second round of the Ottawa Music Development Fund from The Ottawa Music Industry Coalition (OMIC)! Rory, along with other recipients Kimberly Sunstrum, Miguel De Armas & Lynne Hanson, are playing a special Canada Day streaming show through Rogers 22! Holy Wow!
