Peetah!!!!! :-(
This was my first thought and words that came out of my mouth when I initially heard the news "Oh no!!". Hoping it would turn out to be some unruly social media hoax... but after a few independent sources and then a message from VP Records... I knew unfortunately it was real.
Morgan Heritage has been a part of my playlist pre-dating Vintage Love by many many years. Their music from the very beginning was infectious.. amazingly perfectly produced and the words were full of knowledge, full of wisdom, full of hope and fight for a better world but most of all full of love.
Whether their songs addressing the social ills back home in JA, in the US or around the world... these anthems truly dug deep to make you think and to make you wonder (Tell Me Why).. things are the way they are. It is with a sadness and a subdued gladness that I present this tribute show to Peter Anthony Morgan, the lead singer of Morgan Heritage. His distinctive and amazingly perfect voice a gift from Jah no doubt. And for this reason the sadness that I speak of and feel. The future absence of Peetah's voice in the world of Reggae music. But also the gladness. Glad that he did take that initiative to start MH back in 1994. Without this drive... think of all the music we would not have to play and sing. Thus the gladness. Sad to see Peetah go but so glad to have had 30 years of the best music. In my opinion, Peetah and Morgan Heritage - the most important Reggae band of our time. I cannot think of another group who has consistently spread consciousness, hope, teachings of Rastafari and love (Ya don't haffi dread to be Rasta). This truly is not a dreadlock thing.. Divine is the word and Love is the action. So it is with a sadness and a gladness that I bring this program to you. We are blessed to have been alive in the time of Peetah and Morgan Heritage. If you LISTEN to their music.. it is full of nothing but Love.
So with that... I embark on this show, celebrating this great man and how proud he made me of Reggae music and what it can do to influence... in a positive way.... the world. Peetah and Morgan Heritage... I will keep playing your music in my attempt to spread love too.. for as long as the good Lord gives me the strength to do so. Thank you for pursuing your musical dreams and in so doing.. blessing us beyond the cups rim.
I am so proud of you Peetah. Rest in peace... my friend. (Say hi to Joel for me too) :-)

Real sad to know that Peetah is no longer with us. He suffered a stroke. (Age 46). Thanks for always including his songs on the VL playlists, O'Shea. Re: Anthems show "Buss up Barriers" by Morgan Heritage was included on the playlists. ✅️
