I wish we were going in another direction but things must play out... and they are. So in that... there is hope and understanding but also a sadness too. And this is why we at Vintage Love do our best to stay away from the troubles of the week or day. This is not to say that they do not exist or are not important but rather to say that, "everybody needs a little time away". And this is the sanctuary that we have tried to create for you and for us in these 20yrs of Vintage Loves' existence. So while the world seems to be crumbling and humanity crumbling even more robustly... we believe and will continue that "Jah lives and rules and reigns". For this... we smile and continue. Because... "when your smilin', when your smilin..... smiles with you"! ' When you're laughin, when you're laughin, the sun comes shining through"!

This was my first thought and words that came out of my mouth when I initially heard the news "Oh no!!". Hoping it would turn out to be some unruly social media hoax... but after a few independent sources and then a message from VP Records... I knew unfortunately it was real.
Morgan Heritage has been a part of my playlist pre-dating Vintage Love by many many years. Their music from the very beginning was infectious.. amazingly perfectly produced and the words were full of knowledge, full of wisdom, full of hope and fight for a better world but most of all full of love.
Whether their songs addressing the social ills back home in JA, in the US or around the world... these anthems truly dug deep to make you think and to make you wonder (Tell Me Why).. things are the way they are. It is with a sadness and a subdued gladness that I present this tribute show to Peter Anthony Morgan, the lead singer of Morgan Heritage. His distinctive and amazingly perfect voice a gift from Jah no doubt. And for this reason the sadness that I speak of and feel. The future absence of Peetah's voice in the world of Reggae music. But also the gladness. Glad that he did take that initiative to start MH back in 1994. Without this drive... think of all the music we would not have to play and sing. Thus the gladness. Sad to see Peetah go but so glad to have had 30 years of the best music. In my opinion, Peetah and Morgan Heritage - the most important Reggae band of our time. I cannot think of another group who has consistently spread consciousness, hope, teachings of Rastafari and love (Ya don't haffi dread to be Rasta). This truly is not a dreadlock thing.. Divine is the word and Love is the action. So it is with a sadness and a gladness that I bring this program to you. We are blessed to have been alive in the time of Peetah and Morgan Heritage. If you LISTEN to their music.. it is full of nothing but Love.
So with that... I embark on this show, celebrating this great man and how proud he made me of Reggae music and what it can do to influence... in a positive way.... the world. Peetah and Morgan Heritage... I will keep playing your music in my attempt to spread love too.. for as long as the good Lord gives me the strength to do so. Thank you for pursuing your musical dreams and in so doing.. blessing us beyond the cups rim.

I am so proud of you Peetah. Rest in peace... my friend. (Say hi to Joel for me too) :-)

But who left us with many great songs to continue to sing, dance and romance to along the rest of our journey.
Leighton Keith "Pluto" Shervington was born on August 13th, 1950 and passed away last month at the age of 73.
We touched on many of his notable hits during this tribute show tonight... songs like "Ramgoat Liver", "Your Honour", "I Man Born Ya", "Laughter In The Rain", "Your Kiss Is Sweet" and many more that we featured on this show.

Come with me on a journey to enjoy and celebrate the life of Pluto Shervington.. who we can do no less than to bow and honour him for his unmistakable sound, music and contribution to Jamaican and Caribbean music.

Tonight we celebrate and say thanks to Pluto for giving us his part of the gift of music. I hope you enjoy the show and for a moment.. think of how less life would be without these songs to accompany us along our own travels through life.. the lows adn the highs.

We honour you.. "Your Honour" the legendary.. Pluto Shervington! Thank you and rest in peace.
We feature the Anthems on VL because these are those songs that get the blood flowing... that make you listen.. make you think and make you ponder "the situation" we find ourselves in. These songs are songs of sadness, of history, of joy, of perseverance, strength and hope. Some music you can "just" listen too but these are songs that command your attention... command your ear so that you hear the fight and the struggles of others.. the struggles of us.

I hope you enjoy the program tonight as we push the envelope of music that pushes us to be better. Better than we are.. better than we have been.
