Love('n)Ette (Remembering Eddie Lovette)

Special Presentation: Featuring The Late Great Eddie Lovette. One of the many artists that you have requested over the years here on the Vintage Love show... AND one of my favorites as well. That clear, crisp voice belting out reggaefied covers that make you wanna dance and romance. So tonight, we delve head first into the music of Eddie Lovette. Although we played Eddie tunes for the night, save early in the show... there are so many classics that we still did not get to. Maybe.. just maybe one day we will do a "Love('n)Ette" Part 2. The Funding Drive will tell. Eddie Lovette was born in Cairo, Georgia.... yep, I know many people thought he was from the Caribbean but he was born in the good ole US of A. Mr. Lovette recorded 6 albums over his career and it all started (as it often does) with church. Eddie joined a gospel group in his church called the Cairo Echo Jr. Gospel Group at the age of 9. During his college years, Eddies' love of music continued and while pursuing his education continued music with his group "Eddie And The Tropics". Thank God that Eddie did continue his love of music.. for all of us. A big break came in New York, New York and after a performance there he really began to focus on this love of music. Soon enough he was covering songs by big name artists in Reggae at the time. Covering Bob Andy's "Too Experienced" catapulted him to the top 100 Billboard charts in the USA back in 1969. Eddie Lovette, loved in Canada too, also won Top International Male Reggae Singer, awarded this accolade by the Canadian Reggae Music Awards in 1984. Eddie Lovette was only 55 when he passed away due to Cancer. Born in 1943 and passing just over 20 years ago in April of 1998. An incredible list of covers and songs that are such a part of our lives. I have received calls from listeners almost in tears reminiscing on how mom used to play and dance to "Lady In Red". Or how dads favorite tune was "Sweet Sensation" and all the memories and stories that rush out like water cascading over the Niagara Falls...would follow of functions in their youth. The dances, the romances and the stories of love.... all the while with a soundtrack that could not go without some Eddie Lovette belting out a great Reggae version. Ladies and Gentlemen... tonight we celebrate love. The love of music, the love of life and the love of Eddie Lovette. Who.. personally, I could not imagine having done this show for almost 15 years and not having played Eddie time and time again. So thank you Mr. Lovette for pursuing this thing we love called music and thank you for infecting us with such an amazing vibe that we will continue to carry and sing and reminisce and dance too for as long as we have breathe to breath. Thank you for sharing your talent and blessing generations of music listeners and generations to come. This show is dedicated... to you, to keeping your memory alive and to all the Vintage Lovers who have requested some Eddie tune(s) over the years. Thank you and thank you for tuning in to this special episode of Vintage Love. I hope you enjoyed the show and this great music from this man who is a legend... a steadfast name in the world of music... Reggae music. Mr. Eddie Lovette!! Sail On Eddie.... Sail On. :-) O'shea Adagio Vintage Love International CME Award - Top Radio Reggae Program 2017 "Playing With Those Memories Again" The Mighty CKCU 93.1FM www.ckcufm.com OA CKCU 93.1FM Vintage Love "Playing With Those Memories Again" www.ckcufm.com The Mighty 93.1FM

With only radio after obtaining batteries during the power outage, Vintage Love was an ideal accompaniment for the long night. Excellent presentation, Mr O'Shea, calm, broadcast quality tone. Enjoyed memory lane with Eddie Lovette. Thanks.

Hey there Zulf, thank you for sending your message. I know.. That was me too prior to the show. Planning in my dark house with only 3 candles to guide this musical ride. My old Walkman (this is dating me but hey) and a portable speaker and off we went... trying to plan this show by the flickering light.. haha A memory for sure. I am glad that you found some batteries and then decided to spend that time with Vintage Love. Thank you.. I take that very seriously and I am glad you enjoyed the show. Memories.. even the bad ones can be good -- it means we still have life and time to do better and make better ones. Good old memory lane. Thank you for tuning in... for writing on the IM and for your positive encouraging comments. It means a lot. Thank you! :-)
