Vintage Love
Saturday July 6th, 2013 with O'shea Adagio
Farmbria

I hope you enjoyed the July 6th version of Vintage Love. Someone called on Sat. night and asked if I could play for another hour... I wish, but The Docking Station has their fans too. So unfortunately I cant go over my time. But at least we have these 2 hours right??!? I remember when VL was just an hour every other week in the middle of the day on Tuesdays. But due to listener support, the show moved to Saturday nights 10-11pm and then a 2nd hour was added... again due to your support. So I am glad to have these 2 hours to play and enjoy music with you. This show quickly descended to food as the night progressed. I guess ya'll could hear my tummy growling on air.. haha :-) Thank you to Tropical Heat for a fantastic roti. Tropical Heat is located at 1036 Merivale if you want to try one for yourself or try something else tasty on their menu. Just thinking about Caribbean cuisine.. which I love of course made me think of the grocery store I must go to on each and every road trip to New York City. Close to my beloved late Uncle Hal's house in St. Albans... where I pick up cocoa tea, plenty of Shandys and other West Indian foods, drinks and treats. Thus the name of this show... as all this talk of Caribbean deliciousness took me back to loading up the cart in Queens, NY. Otherwise this show would have been named "Cool Summer Night" with respect to a listeners suggestion. A special greeting to all listeners tuning in from NYC. Thank you for tuning in... always great fun to enjoy music together and to joke and laugh, sing (abit) and of course dance the night away. I hope you will come back again for a visit soon. Until then.... Have a good day and a better tomorrow. Take care everybody! :-) O'shea Adagio Vintage Love International CKCU 93.1 FM CKCUFM.COM Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/vintageloveCKCU

O'shea Adagio (host)
Alright... next time I will make sure to have enough roti for 2. But then you will have to supply the Sorrell Shandys, Peardrax or lets see what else... Ting or some real Ginger Beer. Preferrably Barritts Stone Ginger Beer from Bermuda. Cool???? hahaha :-)

9:27 AM, July 9th, 2013
O'shea Adagio (host)
To JA Sorrell... this drink should never be limited to Christmas time...I am open to Sorrell all year long!! And yes, Sorrell Shandys taste... well.. nothing better than an ice cold one on a hot summers eve.

Isnt On Demand awesome??? I am so glad the station took this project on so we can now listen to shows whenever we want. This is really due to the financial support of listeners like yourself and of course the hard work of very few paid staff and volunteers who do AMAZING things with very little... otherwise these "extras" would not be possible. So Merci!! Even more great stuff is coming for the website so stay tuned!! Thank you for checking out the show on demand. I am glad you enjoyed it. And yes, it would be great to have you onboard this Sat. night! If any requests: info@vintagelove.net You can also follow Vintage Love on Facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/vintageloveCKCU Have a great week. :-)

O'Shea, it's nice that you know a lot about Caribbean cuisine and beverages. From Bermuda Barritts Stone Ginger beer to JA Sorrel!:-) The Jamaican White Rum is a favorite among many. Ting is nice also! It has a very unique, sweet taste to it! Next time I'm in St. Albans, NY, I'll definitely visit Farmbria. Maybe in the future, they'll be our cross-border sponsor for the VL show. We'll have to look into that. Take care O'Shea. Have a great remainder of the week!:-)

Yes Irie, I do love Caribbean cuisine, beverages, desserts etc. etc. maybe too much!! haha :-) I also love Ting and Peardrax.. just love Peardrax. I am looking forward to the next time I can enjoy a Bajan turnover! So many great West Indian dishes to try and also the different versions of the same thing. I think it is just amazing to be able to learn about, enjoy and taste the foods of different nations and cultures... just fantastic! I LOVE what Bajans call Conkies.. what they call Blue Draws in Jamaica... oh.. and Cassava Pone... Ok.. I better stop talking about this... startin to salivate right now!!!!! Wouldnt that be amazing to have sponsors here in Ottawa, Toronto and New York... that would be something.

O'shea Adagio (host)
I am not much of a "drinker" but my collection does contain Appletons, Wray and Nephew, Mount Gay and others. (of course these are for my friends when they come to visit and not for myself) :-) By the way... another great drink to try, if you havent already, from Bermuda.. a Dark 'n Stormy. A mix of Bermudian rum and Bermudas Barritts Ginger Beer... delicious!

Oh man.. now you got my mind goin!!! Okay... these are places in New York City...can you tell I love the Empire State?!!? Anyway, I digress. A fantastic Jamaican restaurant... which is just great to go to on a Sunday for brunch... gospel reggae playing in the background, everyone dressed up comin from church... with a well stocked buffet of Jamaican foods... succulent fried plaintain, and the homemade lemonade ohhh.. the lemonade... let me not start. Ya, The Door in Queens. Also another great bakery and restaurant that I must load up at when leaving NYC (this brings back nuff memories of my Uncle) a Guyanese bakery/restaurant called Sybils on Hillside Avenue. Not sure if this restaurant is around still but a Bajan restaurant called The Catch... the best turnovers. If my Uncle knew we were comin down... he would load up so they would be at his house warm when we reached... just the greatest of memories. Love ya Uncle Hal and miss you soooo much. Memories man... memories. He LOVED Currant Rolls (as do I)... everytime.. even when cancer was starting to take him, "Can you pick up some Currant rolls??" in his Bajan accent....ha ha ha. He made the best... the best Fish Cakes... I have to learn how to make them and Currant Rolls one day. Okay.. enough, this could go on for days. So with that.... I Hope you will join me on Saturday night at 10pEST. It is so much fun chattin with ya'll.. I love it! Love ya all!!! I can see it now.. Vintage Love turns into a cooking show.. hahahahaha :-)

9:55 AM, July 11th, 2013
Irie
O'Shea, even though I'm originally from the W.I., I can tell you have sampled more Caribbean cuisine than I have!!:-) But you're right!...Turnover is nice, Conkies (Blue Draws....nice also!! Currant Rolls....are they similar to raisin bread? I can't remember trying Currant rolls. Fish Cakes are nice also. Yep, we might have to start a Vintage Love Cooking show. Next summer we could even have a Vintage Love Picnic in the Park fun day. We could invite the hosts and listeners of the other Caribbean shows (Reggae in the fields, Caribbean Rhythms, Rockers, etc.....just a thought!! Gosh, I can't believe you know all these restaurants in NYC!! (you're well-travelled!!:-)

O'shea Adagio (host)
Listener, you are right.. I do love to travel although I do not like to fly.... but will if I must. But yes, I would like to visit each continent in my lifetime and see how our family around the world lives... for real and not just seeing it on TV. If I won the lotto today, I would start my travels immediately.. of course returning to Ottawa on Saturdays to speak of my adventures and play music on VL. Now that... that would be awesome. Thank you for writing you guys/gals. It is always great to hear from you. Not sure if you are Facebook/Twitter folks but we can chat there too (to be honest I am just learning this Facebook and Twitter stuff myself). Anyway if you want to, Vintage Love is also available on these social medias: Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/vintageloveCKCU Twitter - https://twitter.com/VintageLoveCKCU
