MR. ANOTHER WELL PUT TOGETHER EXCELLENT PROGRAM LAST NIGHT. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM EXTREMES AS YOU DID, SATURDAY NIGHT BEFORE. DONT FORGET; YOU'VE MADE V. L.WHAT IT IS. NO NEED TO CHANGE NOW. JUST REMEMBER THIS ADAGE: THE COMMUNITY KNOWS BEST ITS NEEDS!

To Berkeley M Harris: I certainly share your opinion pertaining to June 29th's program (Vantages" Point)...it was indeed EXCELLENT! (no surprises there!) However, I must say that as an avid listener of Vintage Love for the past 9 years, I am certainly part of this community to which you make reference above; however, I do not share, nor do I agree with your comments, specifically those regarding last Saturday's program (Snowflakes in June) being an "extreme". I think that this host in particular has and continues to expose his audience to various genres of music while keeping in line with his vision and concept of the VL show. In my opinion, this in turn, has afforded the Vintage Love community of listeners the opportunity to not only enhance its knowledge of various types of music but to further develop an appreciation for and an understanding of the common linkages shared among the various genres of music. This is a good thing! :) Every now and then, O'shea puts together a "detour" show as was the case for last week's program. He's been doing this for quite a while. I don't believe there is/was anything extreme about it, in fact it was a great show (as reflected by many of the comments on last week's interactive menu)and I don't see this as changing anything. O'shea: please keep doing you and keep pushing your VL community of listeners to appreciate new and different genres of music. I just thought I'd share my views and express my appreciation for ALL you have done and continue to do with this show. I certainly look forward to these two hours, each and every Saturday night and although I do not have the right to speak on anyone's behalf, I think I am okay saying that I am certainly not alone with these thoughts. Have a good week and looking forward (as usual) to Saturday's show! Peace!

Geez, what a long speech!!! My Gosh!! I really do not see the need for such a long rebuttal, in regards to Mr. Berkeley comments. Everyone has a right to their own opinion. We all love O'Shea and the music he plays, and I'm sure O'Shea welcome the comments of ALL his listeners!

To Listener: absolutely agree..we all have a right to our own opinions and to speak for ourselves. Mine was a bit long...c'est la vie! And yes, I'm certain O'shea welcomes the comments of ALL - long, short or otherwise! Have a good one! :)

Hi O'shea Its been awhile since I've commented but have been listening. I must say that I am a new listener (7months). I enjoyed last weeks show and I don't think it was extreme...it was good. I'm a jamaican and I love reggae lovers but last weeks show was very good. I'm part of the community and I do not agree with mr berkely. Is your show, do what u feel. You have kept me satisfied with your choice of music for the past 7 months and I hope u will continue. I agree with Niaz words...some people too bold with their opinions. One love

Appreciate all u do O'shea! Love the show! The detour show was nice....it played with my memories! Sorry Mr Berkely I do not agree!

I live in western qc (born and raised) and grew up on rock and country. Took a trip to London England and fell in love with Lovers Rock/reggae...a colleague of mine put me on to Vintage Love! I love this show and O'shea. One of the best part for me is being able to see the connection between a lot of my favorite rock songs and fallen in love with the reggae/lovers versions. The "detour" shows help me to see that. So I agree with the comments of "Niaz". I have no complaints...keep it up O'shea and thanks

Ruby
Mr. Berkeley M Harris, Please clarify, what about the June 22 show did you find extreme? The show is called Vintage Love and I am not sure I am feeling the love in your comment, but I don't want to misinterpret that comment. please help me understand your viewpoint.

You all do crack me up! Leave Mr. Berkeley alone! Mr. B. you keep listening and enjoying the Vintage Love show. Maybe next time you have a comment, you can email O'Shea at info@vintagelove.net. This way, you won't have all these girls coming down on you like bees!! O'Shea....you keep doing what you're doing. Don't take these squabbles to heart! We love you and we look forward to your show EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT!! We even love when you do your impromtu singing. Wheweee!! Such a seductive voice!!

To Mr. B. Harris At first when I read your message, I was very much offended for O’Shea and all VL Listeners. However, after some thought, I’ve decided to look at your post as a round-about-way of complementing VL. So you really love when O’Shea plays reggae and his detour shows may not be for you, but instead of insulting O’Shea, let’s encourage him…after all Mr. Harris, you must be aware that far too many times the community loves to tear down its members and see good people, like O’Shea, who are trying to make a difference fail. My hope is that the VL community is the complete opposite. I also hope the VL community including Mr. Harris, all the listeners that have posted online, emailed, and called in the show making various song requests and shout outs, supports Mr. Adagio and VL during the funding drive. After all, it is the community that will keep this amazing show on the air. O’Shea…love you, love your show, keep your head up and keep playing those sweet tunes :-)

To: "Niaz" and "part of the community" Niaz- Very nicely said.your comments have sparked a great conversation and I hope O'shea is tuned in... Part of the community: I echo your sentiments regarding supporting VL during funding drive in the fall. We've gotta keep this great show on the airm O'shea: I hope you're not taking any of this negatively....as I see it, its nothing but love for u and this show (even from mr berkeley).

I don't think 'B' mean't his comment to be an insult. It's just that at 10 pm on June 22nd, he tuned his radio to Vintage Love expecting to hear vintage reggae, but unfortunately for him, that night was a Detour show....so he was a little disappointed. But that's how it is in life. You wake up one morning expecting to see sunshine, but instead you hear the nice patter of rain on your window pane. But it's all good, because we need BOTH the rain and the sun to survive. But I don't think 'B' meant his comments to be insulting. Berkeley, there is the On Demand feature where you can listen to all the previous VL shows that were more to your liking. One love!!

We grow both by 'Compliments' as well as 'Criticisms'. Criticisms make us STRONGER!! The world is made up of various kinds of people.... with differents thoughts and opinions. You'll never have the same uniformed opinion right accross the board at any given time. "Different strokes for different folks" One Love you'll. Start sending in your request for tonights show!! Keep up the good work O'Shea!!

Wow!!! What can I say about this conversation?? I will start by saying yes, of course, I invite and am open to any and all comments about the show and honestly do LOVE to hear from you even if it is with regards to something you don’t like about Vintage Love. My goal is the same each and every week, whether it is a “Detour” show or not and that is to provide good, respectable programming that features great artists and great music you might not otherwise hear. I have always wanted Vintage Love (even from my very first show) to be something the community would be proud of; a program you would enjoy, share with others and want to tune in to again and again. Before I go on though, just as a warning… I fear my response will be even longer than Niaz… so my apologies in advance but this discussion evoked in me so many different feelings it would be hard to speak on it in only a few lines. So again my apologies if this ends up being a long response.

As One Love 2 said above both criticisms and compliments help to make all of us better... so yes I do welcome both. Hopefully criticisms will be given in a genteel & respectful manner but yes... it all helps to make VL better and I am continuously striving for it to be the best show that it can possibly be.

Mr. Berkeley if you do happen to read this please know that I do appreciate your comments and your input. It helps me to gauge the temperature of what you all like and how people like yourself feel about the show. It certainly is hard to tell when sitting in a studio alone with just a microphone. So thank you! I hope you have continued and will continue to tune in to Vintage Love from time to time… maybe even taking in a “Detour” show as they come. I will surely make more of an effort to let everyone know when "Detour" or other anomalous shows are coming, so that if you do tune in you and everyone will have a better idea of what to expect or not expect on such nights. Either way, the concept, the roots and foundation of the show remain steadfast; firmly grounded in classic love music. Maybe you have come across the show more recently and were not familiar with the concept of the occasional “Detour” show but this is something Vintage Love has been showcasing for the near 10 years that the show has been on air. It is part of the origins of the show which you can read about here: http://cod.ckcufm.com/programs/136/info.html (This will save me from making this even longer than it is already becoming. Haha :-) )

But seriously, Mr. Berkeley, I am also thankful for your comments as they sparked a discussion which I have read and re-read in awe. Although some disagreed with your opinions, it was done in such a way as not to be disrespectful. You VL listeners are really something special. And although I dont think the comments were meant to be an attack on myself or the show, I do appreciate the way you responded in standing up for your Vintage Love. Just amazing and I am truly humbled by this discussion, your appreciation of the show and your support.

I will conclude this dissertation I am inadvertently writing :-) by saying that I hope this discussion will not discourage anyone from posting messages whether they are compliments or criticisms about the show. Again, I strongly believe that both are important. It also lets me know that you are out there, listening to and enjoying the show even if you do have criticisms and for this and many other reasons, I love bringing Vintage Love to you. Maybe I started Vintage Love 10 years ago but you all are the ones who are making it possible to continue and to grow and for this… I could never ever thank you enough. My hat goes off to you. :-)
