Sad to lose Mark E Smith even though I didn't enjoy everything he did but he released an amazing amount of great music

Here is a link to the poster of The Fall show when they played Ottawa in the 80's at the Roxy- https://twitter.com/WallyTBM/status/956384538674057216

MES had a pretty impressive musical legacy over 40 years... and left behind him a wealth of anecdotes, too

Blurt opened for New Orders very first show in Toronto in 1980

Blurt played here too, I believe, I'm thinking also at the Roxy? Paul Symes sure had his finger on the pulse back then...

Yes he brought in a lot of very cool shows to the Roxy from Richard Strange, Mission Of Burma and The Passage (ex-Fall) to the Virgin Prunes. Interesting times they were.

Thanks Ben, just happened to be at the right place at the right time & Ottawa certainly had a lot of cool shows at small clubs back then. I saw a lot if great shows but also missed quite a few.

Dave, I completely forgot the midweek cup game, probably for the best given the outcome... saw the highlights of the latest Liverpool drama just prior to heading in here... another one for the pundits to figure out... Klopp must have been apoplectic... also interesting for what I assume was the initial foray into video replay...

Paybacks rocked the Big O at bluesfest , maybe on the Birdman stage, Cynics were there one year too. Get Hip Records !

Yeah, me too, we could have nip out to catch part of the mid week game.. VAR ended up being correct today, but a little bizarre how much time it took...broke up the rhythm of the game. VAR has a lot to learn from other sports. Love your selection since the last break, particularly this Hugh Masekela trx.
