Interviews with great Ottawa artists - Sam Aleums and Hannah Vig
**NOTE** - This On Demand version of the Guest List features 17 additional minutes of interview segments with our two guests and and extra song by Sam Aleums. Plus you get the full version of the fantastic piece Detente here On Demand. Apologies to Sam about cutting in on that piece for the FM broadcast version of the show.

I love doing this show every week as I get exposed to music by artists I didn't know about and get to feature lots of fantastic indie artists making great music.
Today we open in conversation with Ottawa electronic artist Sam Aleums - whom I knew nothing about prior to checking him out this week for the program. He makes great electronic music that has ties to the works of classic electronic artists like Kraftwerk and forges new paths as well. We talk about his creative process and examine some of the pieces on the new album- and learn that Neil Young's voice is being used to great effect on the track The Money. We also talk about the live presentation of electronic music and Sam tells us what to expect when he plays this Friday (Jan. 17th) at Lounge 164 (164 Laurier Avenue west... that is just east of Elgin Street) and a big electronic gig at Club SAW on Saturday, January 25th.

Then we check in with Ottawa singer-songwriter, pop-rock performer Hannah Vig. She released a stellar debut EP in 2023 titled Seasons Change. We talk about the pop gem Nostalgic from that EP. We also talk about two of her newer singles Least Favourite Goodbye and Lose It! and how these songs show Hannah's openness to making music in different genres - she's willing to go wherever the song takes her creatively! We also talk about the impact of producer Kieran Isley on the sound of her music. You can see Hannah Vig performing at the Rainbow on Saturday night (Jan. 17th) along with Touch Grass and Valley Girls.

The next song Minimus only appears as part of the On Demand version of the Guest LIst. It had to be edited out of the FM broadcast of the show because of the 60 minute format of the Guest List. I also had to edit some of my interviews with Sam and Hannah to fit the FM format, but they appear here as part of the On Demand edition. ENJOY!l |
