Thursday September 26th, 2024 with Joe Reilly
Interviews with Wyatt C. Louis, Rachel Weldon of Debaser and LA Timpa

We open the show in conversation with Wyatt C. Louis who is a nêhiyaw singer-songwriter based in Moh’kinstsís on Treaty 7 Territory (Calgary, AB). They have created a debut album with songs built from soaring melodies, railroad-like finger picking and quiet, haunting vocals and lyrical phrasing. We talk to Wyatt about the gentle nature of his album and the beautiful songs that celebrate friendship and connections to people and nature. You can see Wyatt C. Louis performing at the Rainbow Bistro next Tuesday, October 1, along with another Indigenous singer-songwriter Fontine. Rachel tells us about what first inspired Pique (this is the 14th edition!!) and about some of the artists being featured this Saturday. Don't miss this!! For information about Pique: https://www.debaser.ca/event/pique-fall-edition-2024 Finally we talk to LA Timpa. The sound artist is one of the featured performers at Pique on Saturday night. LA Timpa is an artist and musician, currently based in London. He was born in Lagos, Nigeria, before emigrating to Toronto, Canada at the age of 6. He creates intriguing songs and soundscapes that merge all kinds of sounds, music and as he points out clearly in the interview LYRICS. LA Timpa's latest release Time of Marcker feels like a journey inside LA Timpa's mind and we talk about the quiet, insular nature of some of these tracks and how he will be performing this music and new numbers on Saturday night. For music by LA Timpa: https://latimpa.bandcamp.com/music Thanks for listening today. Get out and see some live music this week... truly consider checking out Pique! It's amazing.
