Today our guest is Victor Lowrie Tafoya, who plays viola with the New York-based Mivos Quartet. This stellar quartet has just released an album entitled "Steve Reich - The String Quartets" on which they perform Steve Reich's three amazing string quartets. We talk to Victor about these amazing compositions and some of the groundbreaking work Steve Reich did in composing them. We also discuss the challenges of recording them and performing them live and the importance of Steve Reich's body of work to contemporary music. We also listen to several movements of these powerful quartets so you can get a sense of these incredible pieces of music.
