The Guest List
Thursday October 6th, 2022 with Joe Reilly
Interviews with Lynne Hanson and Sean Rice (the second clarinet with the National Arts Centre Orchestra)

Note: This On Demand version of the Guest List is longer than the 60 minute broadcast version and includes some segments with Lynne Hanson and Sean Rice that had to be edited from the FM broadcast version of the show. Enjoy Today we open with Ottawa's Lynne Hanson in conversation about her latest album, Ice Cream in November, which was released in April. We hear about how she put together the songs with her co-producer and guitarist Blair Michael Hogan and how she's exploring a wider array of sounds on this new record. She also talks about what you can expect at her concert on Thursday, October 13th at Red Bird Live. Brock Zeman will be on the bill that night as well, so it's a solid double bill of singer-songwriters who create great songs that can be loosely defined as Americana. Sean tells us about his background and how he got into making music as a young person in elementary school in St. John's Newfoundland - public school music programs are important folks and many great musicians got their starts making music in public school programs. He also tells us what it was like performing in the orchestra a couple of weeks ago when the NACO performed John Luther Adams's amazing, immersive musical piece Become Ocean. He also tells us what to expect when the National Arts Centre Orchestra performs Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony on Wednesday, October 5th and Thursday, October 6th.
