The Guest List
Thursday July 14th, 2022 with Joe Reilly
Interviews with Aysanabee and Lucy Dacus - two artists at RBC Ottawa Bluesfest this week. Both have tales to tell about challenges on the road, and Lucy Dacus has some advice for injured Rage Against the Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha.

We open the show talking to Indigenous artist Aysanabee, who is appearing with a six-piece band at RBC Ottawa Bluesfest on Sunday, July 17th at 6 p.m. We talk about the ideas behind the first three singles he has released and how he put them together - totally solo and with other musicians. He tells us about challenges on the road recently, when his precious guitar went missing on the way to a gig in the Czech Republic. He also shares his new single, We Were Here - and it's a world radio premiere as it is officially released tomorrow - July 15th. Keep your eye on Aysanabee - he's definitely going to make a mark on the music scene. We talk about the songs on her amazing album from 2021 Home Video. She tells us how it feels to have an album that has touched so many people at a very personal level and made many Best of 2021 lists. She also has some strong advice for the frontman of Rage Against the Machine Zack de la Rocha. Lucy herniated two discs in her back earlier this year and spent a month touring, delivering her shows from a couch on stage. Tune in to hear her advice for the veteran rocker who injured his leg on the second show of the much heralded Rage Against the Machine reunion tour and is continuing to tour with a concert at RBC Ottawa Bluesfest on Friday night (July 15.) Lucy is doing fine right now and intends to be standing up at Bluesfest tonight!
