Three great interviews with Leif Vollebekk, Kathryn McCaughey of NOBRO and Eric Haynes of Busty and the Bass

This is a fun show today with three great interviews. We open with Leif Vollebekk who is finally returning to Ottawa this Saturday night, June 16th to perform at the Bronson Centre. At the start of the interview Leif explains how he does not like explaining his songs and he gives a number of solid reasons for letting his artistic works speak for themselves. He talks about how his music has evolved into a more soulful place in recent years and what we can expect at his upcoming live show this weekend. It's always a pleasure to catch up with Leif. Here is where you can get ticket information for Leif's performance: https://www.ticketweb.ca/event/leif-vollebekk-new-bronson-centre-theatre-tickets/11114025?pl=spectrasonic And here is where you can get more information about Leif and his music: https://www.leifvollebekk.com/ https://leifvollebekk.bandcamp.com/ Then we check in with Kathryn McCaughey of NOBRO. The four-piece group is appearing at Club SAW tonight (Thursday, June 16th) and it promises to be a rousing evening when these four women from Montreal take to the stage. We talk to Kathryn about the fun, soulful-poppy opening to the song Better Each Day and about the band's overall sense of humour and how it works its way into their punky songs. She also tells us the hilarious way they named the second song we feature, Eat Slay Chardonnay. Here is where you can get ticket information for this gig: https://www.ticketweb.ca/event/nobro-the-obgms-club-saw-tickets/12003325?pl=spectrasonic And here is where you can find more information about NOBRO: https://nobroband.com/ https://nobro.bandcamp.com To wrap up the show we talk to Eric Haynes of the Montreal-based funky soul masters, Busty and the Bass. The funky Montreal outfit is appearing at the Jazz Festival on Friday, June 24th. Eric talks to us about how the group got to work with Macy Gray, Verdine White (Earth Wind and Fire) and how the group's latest release - Karneval - explores some hip hop and r&b vibes. Don't miss these guys when the hit the stage at the Ottawa Jazz Festival on June 24th. https://ottawajazzfestival.com/artists/busty-and-the-bass/ For more information about Busty and the Bass check out these links: https://bustyandthebass.com https://bustyandthebass.bandcamp.com And get more information about the Ottawa Jazz Festival here: https://ottawajazzfestival.com/ The Festival starts on Friday, June 24th and runs until July 3rd.
