An interview with Andrea Ramolo about her new album Quarantine Dream

Today we talk to singer-songwriter Andrea Ramolo about her brand new album Quarantine Dream. It's her seventh recording if you include the two albums she released with the group Scarlet Jane. We talk about how this album reflects the pandemic and the quarantines/lockdowns, and about themes like escaping it all as explored in some of the songs. Andrea explains how her Mother's cancer diagnosis gave her the initial impetus to become a singer-songwriter over a decade ago. We also talk about the production skills of her good friend Sarah MacDougall and how she worked with Kinnie Starr on the powerful song Free and an amazing video for the song featuring an Indigenous girl Emilee Ann Pitawanakwat who Andrea met at a protest. As well, Andrea talks about the powerful song Morning Glory that addresses a difficult theme around female artists who find themselves faced with the choice between having children or their artistic careers. It's a beautiful and heartfelt song and discussion that may be challenging for anyone who has had a miscarriage or lived through the death of a child.
