The Guest List
Thursday September 17th, 2020 with Joe Reilly
Tonight we look inside the world of music retailers as we talk to Ian Boyd of Compact Music, perhaps Ottawa's longest running music retailer.

Today we talk to music retailer Ian Boyd about running a music shop with his brother James Boyd for more than 40 years. We hear about the earliest days of the business and how it evolved. We also talk to Ian about surviving the COVID lockdown, the impact of digital music and streaming and the resurgence of vinyl. And we hear some great music that I was turned on to thanks to Ian and James at Compact Music. http://compactmusic.ca/ Remember to buy the music of artists you love as they don't get paid enough by music streaming services. And consider visiting a retail outlet to do so and support local business.

I'm thinking that listening to vinyl is much more soothing due to the 60htz that CD's or even radio, it's only been used for about a decade. I've read things about the frequency of 60 hrtz. Explaining that it may be a sonic weapon, causing frustration and other negative feelings, like anger. From the internet research I've done on that frequency. Say to me, why on earth would the powers that be make such a frequency the go-to for listening to music or anything that makes sound, hell even all the TV's use it too. If it has negative affects on behaviour, why is it used. Then I'll hear about all the crap happening down in "big brothers" homeland. It's getting close to civil war again. Except it's racial, religious, hate. Why people care what their neighbors do for fun, beats me. Unless it's insidious. Like people using other people in a socio/psycho-pathic manner. It's even gotten worse there since 5g became the staple cellular workhorses. Those things are everywhere in the usa. Again 60 hrtz. They're so out of control, it won't be long until marshall law is put into affect. completely dividing everyone. It's an evil world out there. The people who see it for what it is, have to follow their hearts and minds, and isolating themselves outside of it and always vote, while paying attention to the laws the senate is discussing at anytime. Every penstroke made they're is a crumb of our freedoms being stolen back. That is why ordinary people aren't made privy to the discussion. It's certainly not democratic, what we call ourselves is being reinvented, ass backwards.

I like your view about some things...and agree the world seems fragile. We gotta ALL hang together or we hang alone... Thanks for your efforts
