Interviews with Dave Bidini of Rheostatics. Oh Susanna and Owen Pallett and a special appearance by CKCU alumnus Chris Lyne

A FANTASTIC show today. Three great artists with interesting things to say and a special guest appearance by a CKCU alumnus. We open with Dave Bidini of the Rheostatics. The band has recently released its first new album in 15 years and will be playing at the National Arts Centre on Friday, November 22. Dave talks to us about what drove the band to get back together in the studio and how Hugh Marsh and Kevin Hearn have added new dimensions to the sound of the Rheostatics. Suzie Ungerleider is Oh Susanna and she is one of my favourite artists to talk to. She is so personable and thoughtful and funny. Today we talk about her debut album Johnstown because she's coming to the Black Sheep Inn up in Wakefield, Quebec to play the album in its entirety from start to finish on Friday, November 15th. Johnstown is a dark album full of compelling songs that frequently tell tales of troubled characters - many of them appearing like modern day murder ballads. We talk to Owen about the beautiful arrangements of the songs on his last album, In Conflict. Owen tells us how recorded some of the songs on the album and how he is using more guitar on his latest recording, which will be released sometime in the new year.
