The Guest List
Thursday July 18th, 2019 with Joe Reilly
Guests Paragon Cause are at the Black Sheep Inn on Friday, July 19
Today we meet Michelle Opthof and Jamie Bonapart and Scotty P of the Ottawa-based group Paragon Cause. The group has created some great music that you can check out on their Bandcamp site - at times it sounds like folk-pop and at other times it is reminiscent of Portishead and Massive Attack with dark, synths underlying brooding bass lines and electro rhythms. Michelle and Jamie explain how they met and started making music and how they eventually hooked up with Sune Rose Wagner of the Raveonettes to create some new music that will be coming out soon. Scotty jumps in and tells us how he brings the bass alive with the group as part of the live band. This is an engaging and relatively new local group to keep an eye on . They will be releasing a new e.p. this Fall and you can see them at the Black Sheep Inn this Friday night, July 19.

We also play some music by Jame and This is the Kit - two UK bands that put on exceptional shows at RBC Ottawa Bluesfest this year.
Get out and see some live music this week and be sure to buy music from the artists you like. It's the only way they can afford to keep making music so buy some vinyl, some CDs or some downloads today. Artists don't make enough money from your streaming services!
