Ottawa Jazz Festival Special - Interviews with Rich Underhill of the Shuffle Demons and the group Paris_Monster

Today's show focuses on the Ottawa Jazz Festival. The annual fest kicks off on Friday (June 21) and keeps the city full of great music until July 1. https://ottawajazzfestival.com/lineup/ We open with Richard Underhill, the long-time leader of the Shuffle Demons - a Toronto-based jazz outfit that has been combining great jazz chops with fun riffs and outrageous songs (and antics) for more than 30 years. We talk about the origins of the group when they busked in the streets of Toronto and some of the great members who have been part of the group over the years. Rich brings us up to speed on the new band members and shares a couple of unreleased pieces with us. It will be a blast to see these guys again at the Ottawa Jazz Festival on Friday, June 28 at 7:30 on the OLG Stage. This duo performs rock, pop, folk, experimental songs as a duo called Paris_Monster. The group will be performing at the Ottawa Jazz Festival on Wednesday, June 26 at 10:30 p.m. on the OLG Stage as part of the Top Shelf After Dark Series. Josh and Geoff explain how the duo creates music in the studio and then brings it to life in the live setting.
