Interviews with Young Empires, Wintersleep and Lynn Jackson

Well at the start of the show we featured music from Young Empires debut album The Gates and were hoping to chat with one of the band members... but they missed the call time... BUT eventually Matt got a hold of us and we chatted for a few minutes in the middle of the show about themes like ghosts that appear all over the album and the dark and creepy video for the song Uncover Your Eyes...it's an intereseting juxtaposition with the uplifting nature of the songs on the album. Young Empires appear at Ritual on Friday, February 26. http://youngempires.com/#media Wintersleep is finally back after a pretty long hiatus and the east coast band has a stunning new album called The Great Detachment ready to launch. We talk to guitarist Tim D'Eon about the new songs, the challenges of sequencing the new record, and how the band's 4th album New Inheritors (released in 2010) deserves to be more recognized for the awesome recording that it is!! (Check it out if you don't believe me!) We also talk about how the band's side projects keep everyone fresh and Tim's awesome producution work on the album by Rain Over St. Ambrose. She'a appearing with John Allaire at Quinn's Pub on Saturday, Feb 27 at 2:30 p.m. Then it's up to Wakefield to Kaffe 1870 for an evening show with Slo' Tom. We talk to Lynn about her latest release, Songs of Rain, Snow and Remembering and how much the seasons affected her songs on this album... hence the title right! It's an intriguing and at times dark record with thoughtful songs throughout.
