Tonight's Subject: Saxophonist Ivo Perelman vs drummers
Brazilian saxophonist Ivo Perelman settled in New York City in the ‘90s. He claims to be in the lineage of John Coltrane and not Gato Barbieri or Albert Ayler.his playing is powerfull but is based on more conventional forms such as the ones developed by Sonny Rollins. Tonight we will explore two of his many recordings that explores the concept of duet with drummers, one with drummer Whit Dickey and the other with drummer Brian Willson. Enjoy
