Free-Jazz Internationalism: François Houle/Evan Parker/Benoît Delbecq

Québec clarinetist François Houle (Vancouver based though), British saxophonist Evan Parker and French pianist François Delbecq share in common the taste for circular phrasing thanks in part to the reed men wide use of circular breathing. The 2007 CD la lumière de pierres perfectly illustrates this. Each composition is like an unresolved whirlwind where tumbleweeds are corralled in all kinds of directions but the main thing is that they go in one specific direction.
