Berlin Alchemy part III: cross-generation Free Jazz: Schubert/Müller/Schlippenbach/Clayton/Kellers

Berlin harbors some heavy weight Free Jazz stars. Pianist Alexander von Schlippenbach is one of them. By star, I mean that in order to find him, all you need to do is to locate the Deutschland Funk (German national radio) recording truck and follow the massive cables all the way inside the club like the Bb on Rosenthaler Strasse. Eventually, at the other end of the cables you will find Schlippenbach, usually with his friends like Evan Parker or something. But far from enjoying popularity all for himself, Schlippenbach mingles frequently with younger generation of musicians (see below). Of course since his Globe Unity Orchestra of the ‘60s, European Free Jazz has evolved somewhat in different direction, thus the reunion will either reset the clocks somewhat back in history or produce yet something completely new. One thing is for sure, the level of energy is on the very high side: Paul Hubweber, trombone Frank Paul Schubert, soprano saxophones Alexander von Schlippenbach, piano Thomas Clayton, bass Willi Kellers, drums Their music is of a sustained intensity and moves like a dynamics roller coaster. chubert/Müller/Schlippenbach/Clayton/Kellers Berlin harbors some heavy weight Free Jazz stars.
