Peter Brötzmann is one of the most radical European Free Jazz musician. However, the most interesting part is that this radicalism has gone un-abided for over four decades now. His first recording, Adolphe Sax dates from 1966. He is the archetype of European musicians, i.e. with no blues roots. However, his contribution is so significant that he soon received support of American musicians like Don Cherry or Lee Konitz and recently even Chicago’s Ken Vandermark. Tonight we will feature a re-issue of the 1970 CD Balls with Dutch drummer Han Bennink of the legendary Berlin based FMP (Free Music Production) label that has been re-issued by a New York company.
