Lina Allemano Four’s band is an enigmatic component of the Jazz Avant-Garde scene. The music is multi-faceted, some components are taken from traditional straight-ahead Jazz others from more radical avant-garde. The assembly, rather than the fusion, does not place the listener on a determined track. Instead, things change and evolve continuously and as a result make people merely think. My overall impression is that Lina Allemano is the Miles Davis equivalent of Free Jazz. Tonight, we will sample her Gridjam CD. Lina Allemano is performing this coming Saturday, March 15th at GigSpace at 7:30pm. This week is a special week due to the visit of avant-garde high priest and bassist William Parker that will be performing in various places around Carleton U. and at GigSpace on March 14th at 7 and 9 pm at 953 Gladstone ave.
