A Celebration of the music of Dallas Trumpeter Dennis Gonzalez, who passed away March 15, 2022.

Dennis Gonzalez is considered a giant in the world of jazz. He had collaborated with a who's who of modern jazz over his 50+ years of recording and performing. To name a few, he has recorded with Faruq Z Bey, Oliver Lake, Ken Filiano, Joe Morris, Ellery Eskelin, Mark Helias, Famoudou Don Moye, Malachi Favors, Henry Grimes, Sabir Mateen, Roy Campbell Jr., Charles Brackeen, Louis Moholo-Moholo, Carlos Ward, John Purcell, Frank Lowe, Andrew Cyrille, Alex Cline, Nels Cline, Curtis Clark, Reggie Workman, Charlie Kohlhase, Nate McBride, Susie Ibarra, Keith Tippett, Elton Dean, Ahmed Abdullah, Douglas Ewart, Kidd Jordan, Alvin Fielder and Rodrigo Amado, among others. Dennis was instrumental in convincing both Charles Brackeen and Henry Grimes to perform again after both had left the music world. Dennis recorded many albums for the Silkheart, Clean Feed, Ayler, NoBusiness, Konnex, Music & Arts, Furthermore record labels, as well as his own DAAGNIM Records label. Dennis formed an association (modeled after the AACM) called the Dallas Association for Avant-Garde and Neo-Impressionistic Music - DAAGNIM. In addition to being a working musician, he was an artist, an educator and a radio host - a true Renaissance Man. In the early 2000's he formed an ensemble with his sons Stefan (drums, vibes) and Aaron (double bass, electric bass) called Yells At Eels.
