Alto sax player Ornette Coleman recorded a series of groundbreaking albums for Atlantic Records. THE SHAPE OF JAZZ TO COME was the first. A pianoless quartet, the music was met with mixed responses because the concepts and structures were unlike anything that had come before it. The album included one the landmark jazz compositions "Lonely Woman".
