Wouldn't they be the inedible so called "horse" chestnuts? I live in Zurich Switzerland and here they sell chestnuts but they're from south of the alps. The ones that grow up here look similar but you can't eat them. By the way it's great to get ckcu over here. I used to listen in the seventies growing up in Ottawa
