Pianist Joe Albany gained recognition playing in Charlie Parker's Quintet when Bird was in Los Angeles in March of 1946. Albany was just 22. But that's just part of the story. Though a self-professed "Birdophile", Joe Albany developed a distinct and individual voice on his chosen instrument. On this episode of INSIDE JAZZ Jim and Ron play records led by Joe Albany in 1973 and 1982. Tune in for two hours of great jazz for a Sunday afternoon.
