Inside Jazz
Sunday November 16th, 2025 with Jim Reil & Ron Steeds
A Tribute To Master Percussionist Jack DeJohnette, Who Passed Away October 26, At The Age Of 83.

He participated in the recording of Miles Davis' landmark BITCHES BREW and was a member of Keith Jarrett's Standards Trio for several decades. But that was but a drop in his musical bucket. Today we play two records - one recorded live in concert in 1966 and one recorded in the studio in 1983 - that demonstrates his prowess behind the drum kit. Buckle up for two hours of Jazz on INSIDE JAZZ. Also, we would like to wholeheartedly like to thank our donors who pledged to INSIDE JAZZ/CKCU-FM - Neil McLeod, Mark Keill, David MacLaren, Scott Emard, Anonymous, Neil Rothwell, Oles Gellner, Manmohan Panesar, Charles Reid, Jen Bayne, Joseph Watters, and Jennifer Denman. But there is still time to donate to the show/station... While you're listening please consider donating to INSIDE JAZZ and CKCU-FM by following this link to make your pledge - https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/CKCU/p2p/fundingdrive2025/page/inside-jazz

Ollie
Good evening gentlemen. All ears tonight for the late, the great Jack DeJohnette. Had, with Ron, the pleasure a number of times to see a master at his craft. So powerful, yet so subtle. Thanks for doing this Jim and Ron.
