Sunday May 5th, 2024 with Jim Reil & Ron Steeds
The Challenge Edition

The Challenge Episode: in the first hour Jim challenges the prevailing thought that Lester Young had lost his mastery of the tenor sax when he returned from his military duty during World War II. Jim turns to the ALADDIN SESSIONS as proof to support his challenge. In the second hour Ron challenges the prevailing thought that Coleman Hawkins' influence faded when Lester Young came on the scene in the mid-1930's. Ron will support his challenge with the Prestige recording BLUES GROOVE recorded in 1958. Two hours of great jazz on your bi-weekly jazz record listening group.
