Inside Jazz
Sunday August 24th, 2025 with Jim Reil & Ron Steeds
Recording sessions led by drummers - one recorded September 4, 1958, the other recorded April 8, 1968. The show is dedicated to Drake The Dancing Labrador, who displayed a very percussive tail when the music played.
In the first hour Jim sets the pace with the 1958 Riverside recording called DEEDS, NOT WORDS led by Max Roach. In the second hour, Ron follows up with the 1968 Blue Note recording PUTTIN' IT TOGETHER led by Elvin Jones. Today we hear two of the most outstanding drummers in the history of jazz.
