Ricky Ford was discovered while playing in a club in Boston by Ran Blake and the rest is history. Ford was convinced to enroll in the New England Conservatory of Music (for which Blake was a professor). In the first hour Jim introduces the 1986 Soul Note album SHORT LIFE OF BARBARA MONK by the Ran Blake Quartet. In the second hour Ron follows with Ricky Ford's 1977 New World Records release LOXODONTA AFRICANA.
