A Little Ornette Coleman

THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE DONATED TO INSIDE JAZZ. THERE IS STILL TIME TO CONTRIBUTE IF YOU CAN AT - https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/CKCU/p2p/FD2023/page/inside-jazz-long-live-vinyl/ Ornette Coleman is one of the true originals throughout the history of Jazz. And that's saying a lot. Today we hear a tribute album performed live in Bregenz, Austria in 1980 by alumni of Coleman's various ensembles. The complimenting/connecting record that follows is also a live recording from a 1969 performance at New York University by the Ornette Coleman Ensemble (made up of several of the musicians on the tribute album). These two recordings include renditions of Coleman's composition BROKEN SHADOWS, giving us the opportunity to compare and contrast.
