Inside Jazz
Sunday November 5th, 2023 with Jim Reil & Ron Steeds
Our One Funding Drive Episode - Let's Make It Count!
This week we feature the soprano sax of Steve Lacy. In the first hour Jim presents Lacy's EVIDENCE, recorded November 1, 1961 for the New Jazz Label. Accompanying Lacy is Don Cherry on trumpet, Carl Brown on bass, and Billy Higgins on drums. In the second hour Ron features the Soul Note duo recording SEMPRE AMORE, by Lacy and pianist Mal Waldron, recorded almost twenty-five years later on February 17, 1986. The album is entirely made up of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn compositions.
